Lin's visit 21.1. - 8.2. 2016

Eric's mom came for two weeks to visit us and see her grandchild Adam for the first time. Eric took a week off then we did a few trips. We went to Napa, San Francisco, Yosemite and Santa Cruz.

Ericova maminka prijela na dva tydny nas navstivit a poprve se podivat na sve vnouce Adamka. Eric si vzal tyden dovolene a vyrazili jsme na par vyletu. Jeli jsme do Napy, San Francisca, Yosemit a Santa Cruz.

Lake Tahoe 16. - 18. 1. 2016

It has become a tradition to go to Lake Tahoe with friends for MLK weekend. Eric and I hoped to keep up with this tradition even with Adam. We were wondering if friends will still come with us even if we might have screaming baby with us. :) In the end nice mixture of friends came to the cabin, some with kids, some without. The snow situation was much better than last two years, but the weather wasn't great for 10 weeks old baby. So we did only short hikes each day.

Uz je to tradici jet s kamarady na prodlouzeny vikend MLK na hory k jezeru Tahoe. Eric a ja jsme doufali, ze udrzime tuto tradici i s Adamkem. Zajimalo nas, jestli s nami kamaradi pojedou i kdyz mozna budeme mit placici miminko :) Nakonec dobra smes kamaradu prijela, nekteri s detmi, nekteri bez. Snehu bylo vice nez predesle dva roky, ale pocasi nebylo idelani pro 10ti tydenni miminko. Tak jsme kazdy den sli jen na kratke vychazky.

Santa Cruz, Ethiopian restaurant, San Jose 1. - 3. 1. 2016

My mom came to help us when Adam was born. Even though 3 months seemed long time in October, now in January it felt like it flied by. We tried to visit last few places that my mom would enjoy. Went to Santa Cruz, San Jose downtown and to gardens by Winchester mystery house. We also went out for dinner in Ethiopian restaurant.

Moje maminka nam prijela pomoci, kdyz se Adam narodil. I kdyz se 3 mesice v rijnu zdaly jako dlouha doba, tak ted v lednu jsme meli pocit, ze to strasne rychle uteklo. Pokusili jsme se navstivit par mist, kde by se jeste mamce libilo. Zajeli jsme do Santa Cruz, centra San Jose a do zahrady u domu Winchester. Zasli jsme si take na veceri do Etiopske restaurace.

Colorado 22. - 29. 12. 2015

It has become a tradition to go for Christmas to Colorado. Part of Eric's family fly/drive there for the Christmas celebration. This year we also brought a new member of the family - our little Adam. Most of the time we spent in Evergreen, but we also managed to take a trip to Garden of the Gods and Boulder.

Uz je to tradici, ze na vanoce jezdime do Colorada. Cast Ericovi rodiny se sem sjizdi na vanoce. Tento rok jsme take privezly noveho clena rodiny, naseho maleho Adamka. Vetsinu casu jsme stravili v Evergreenu, ale stihli jsme se take podivat do Zahrady bohu a do Boulderu.

Czech Christmas dinner and Christmas party 19. - 20. 12. 2015

It has become a tradition to host Czech Christmas dinner and then Christmas party with friends. The Czech Christmas dinner has changed over the years, we started with friends no kids, now there were 7 children, 9 adults. The dinner was nice, but no way we could actually eat at the same time... :) The next day we had other friends over. We played traditional games and had fun. Adam was very good baby :)

Uz se to stalo tradici, ze poradame ceskou vanocni veceri a vecirek s kamarady. Ceska vanocni vecere se za leta trochu zmenila, zacinali jsme s kamarady bez deti, ted jsme meli 7 deti, 9 dospelych. Vecere byla dobra, ale nehrozilo, ze bychom jedli ve stejnou dobu... :) Nasledujici den jsem prisli dalsi kamaradi. Hrali jsme tradicni hry a uzivali si to. Adam byl velice hodne miminko.

Monterey 5.12. and San Francisco - Alcatraz 12.12. 2015

Trips with Adam are little bit more challenging, but that wouldn't stop us. The main challenges are feedings and diaper changing. Since my mom traveled quite a distance to visit us and help us, we also wanted to show her around. One weekend we went to Monterey aquarium and one weekend to Alcatraz.

Vylety s Adamkem jsou trochu vice narocne, ale to nas nezastavi. Hlavni prekazky je krmeni a vymena plen. Jelikoz moje maminka cestovala dalku, aby nas navstivila a pomohla nam, tak jsme ji take chteli ukazat okoli. Jeden vikend jsme vyrazili do akvaria v Monterey, druhy vikend pak na Alcatraz v San Francisku.

Thanksgiving - Yosemite 26. - 28. 11. 215

Last two years we went to Yosemite for Thanksgiving. Previous years we stayed at heated tents in Curry village, this year we were debating if we should go at all. We had 3 weeks old baby and my mom with us. In the end we decided to go, and we upgraded our stay, we reserved a room in the Ahwahnee hotel. On the way to Yosemite we stopped twice for feeding, but otherwise Adam was taking the long drive relatively well. The dinner went well too. I pumped milk ahead so in case he gets hungry, we can feed him from bottle. On Friday we tried to go for a hike to Nevada falls. It was snowy, icy and cold, and we had to change our plans and tried to stay indoor as much as we could. On Saturday the weather was a little bit better and we managed to see the lower Yosemite falls before we headed back home. On our way back we stopped only once.

Minule dva roky jsme vzdy jeli do Yosemite na Den Dikuvzdani. Predesle roky jsme byli ubytovani ve vyhrivanych stanech v Curry village. Tento rok jsme premysleli, jestli mame vubec jet. Meli jsme sebou 3 tydenni miminko a moji maminku. Nakonec jsme se rozhodli jet a ubytovali jsme se v hotelu Ahwahnee. Na ceste do Yosemite jsme museli stavet dvakrat na krmeni, ale jinak Adam snasel dlouho cestu relativne dobre. Vecere taky probehla docela dobre. Odstrikala jsem mleko dopredu pro pripad, kdyby mel Adam hlad, tak jsme jej mohli rychle nakrmit z flasky. V patek jsme zkusili vyrazit na vyslap k vodopadum Nevada. Bylo nasnezeno, namraza a zima a tak jsme zmenili nase planu a snazili se zustat vevnitr co to nejvice slo. V sobotu bylo pocasi o neco lepsi a podarilo se nam projit se k spodnim Yosemitskym vodopadum nez jsme vyrazili na cestu zpet. Na ceste zpet jsme zastavovali jen jednou.
