Big Island, Hawaii 13. - 21. 6. 2015

My summer vacation started with trip to Hawaii. We chose the Big Island because we haven't been there yet and should have many options for exploration. The first half of the week we spent on the eastern part. We stayed in town Hilo and made trips from here, like the Volcanic National Park, Botanic Garden, Waipi'o valley, etc. On this side of the island there are not really any beaches, but we managed to find some place to swim. The second half of our holiday we stayed at Kona, which is much touristy area, with more beaches and places for snorkeling. We had a great time, the temperature wasn't too high, but humid and I realized that I rather play in snow than hot weather.

Moje letni prazdniny zacali vyletem na Hawaii. Vybrali jsme si Velky Ostrov, protoze jsme tady jeste nebyli a mel mit hodne moznosti k vyletum. Prvni polovinu tydne jsme stravili na zapadnim pobrezi. Ubytovali jsme se ve meste Hilo a odtud jsme podnikali vylety jako napriklad Sopecny narodni park, botanickou zahradu, udoli Waipi'o, atd. Na teto strane ostrova nejsou zadne plaze, ale i tak se nam podarilo najit nejake misto na zaplavani. Druhou polovinu nasi dovolene jsme byli v meste Kona, ktere je mnohem vice turistictejsi, s vice plazemi a mistama na snorklovani. Dovolena byla super, teploty nebyly prilis vysoke, ale vysoka byla vlhkost ovzdusi a tak jsem si uvedomila, ze radeji travim cas hranim ve snehu nez ve velkem horku.

Mendocino County 23.- 25. 2015

Memorial weekend starting to mean in my mind not so good weather. This year we had camping reservation near Carson pass in Sierras. The weather forecast was predicting rain and cold weather, we changed our plans. On Saturday we drove to Ukiah, went for a short hike in nearby woods and stay overnight at a hotel. On Sunday morning we drove to Mendocino National forest and managed to get a campsite by a Pillsbury lake. We again enjoyed short, but quite hot hike and spent the afternoon relaxing at the camp. On Sunday we drove back home, since we didn't find any other interesting hike in the area.

Memorial vikend zacina pro me byt vikendem, ktery nema vetsinou hezke pocasi. Tento rok jsme meli zarezervovany kemp pobliz prusmyku Carson v horach Sierras. Predpoved pocasi ale predpovidala dest a zimu a tak jsme zmenili nase plany. V sobotu jsme jeli to mesta Ukiah, zasli si na kratkou prochazku v lesech pobliz a zustali pres noc v hotelu. V nedeli rano jsme jeli do narodniho lesa Mendocino a podarilo se nam ziskat kemp u jezera Pilsbury. Opet jsme si vysli na kratkou prochazku v docela horkem pocasi. Odpoledne jsme ztravili odpocivanim v kempu. V nedeli jsme jeli zbet domu, jelikoz jsme neobjevili dalsi zajimave vyslapy v oblasti.

Annual BBQ with friend 26. 4. 2015

Usually around my birthday I try to organize BBQ in park with friends. This year wasn't any different. I baked my traditional czech birthday cake and Eric helped to decorate. The weather was sunny, even though little bit windy and we had a great time with our friends.

Vetsinou kolem mych narozenin se snazim zorganizovat grilovani s kamarady v parku. Tento rok nebyl jiny. Upekla jsem muj tradicni cesky dort a Eric jej pomohl ozdobit. Pocasi se vydarilo, i kdyz bylo trochu vetrno, a my jsme si to poradne uzili.

Spring Break - California - Oregon - Washington 11. - 19. 4. 2015

This spring break we took a road trip around the west coast. We started with Redwoods in California, then drove along the coast in Oregon. To not to spend all the time in the car, we did one backpacking trip to High Hut next to Rainier national park. We stayed in very nice hut with beautiful views. Since it was Tuesday night, we had the whole hut to ourselves. The last stop was Portland. We visited a couple gardens, amazing bookstore and a few food places. On our way back home we stopped and Smith Rock state park and Crater Lake national park for short hikes.

Tyto jarni prazdniny jsem se vydali na silnicni vylet po zapadnim pobrezi. Zacali jsme kalifornskymi vysokymi stromy (redwoods), pak jsme jeli podel pobrezi do Oregonu. Abychom nestravili vsechen cas v aute, vyslapli jsme si do jedne chaty na kopci blizko narodniho parku Rainier. V teto chate, s nadhernymi vyhledy, jsme zustali pres noc. Jelikoz to bylo utery, meli jsme celou chatu jen pro sebe. Posledni zastavka bylo mesto Portland. Navstivili jsme nekolik zahrad, uzasne knihkupectvi a par mist zajimavych jidlem. Po ceste zpet domu jsme se zastavili ve statnim parku Smith Rock and narodnim parku Crater lake na kratke prochazky.

Czech That Film - San Francisco 28.- 29. 3. 2105

This weekend we spent in San Francisco. Roxie theater was hosting Czech film festival and I couldn't miss the opportunity to hear Czech language on the big screen! We went for movie Clownwise on Saturday evening, and stayed overnight in a hotel. The next day we went first to Exploratorium to "play around", then to pier 39 for lunch and in the afternoon for the second movie Fair Play.

Tento vikend jsme stravili v San Francisku. Kino Roxie poradalo Cesky filmovy festival a ja jsem si nemohla nechat ujit prilezitos slyset cestinu na velkem platne! V sobotu jsme se byli podivat na film Klauni a zustali jsme pres noc v hotelu. Dalsi den jsem jeli nejdrive do Exploratoria si "pohrat", pak na Pier 39 na obed a odpolene pak na druhy film Fair Play.

Peter Grubb Hut 21. - 22. 3. 2015

Alan managed to reserve Peter Grubb hut for this weekend and we were lucky to be invited. The trail to the hut is only about 3 miles long. The weather was nice, and even though we started close to 11 am, we were at the hut for lunch. After lunch some people went for short hike, some just relaxed. In the morning the weather didn't look so great, so instead of planned short hike we just packed up and went back. Before we got ready, the sun got through the clouds and we had nice hike back.

Alanovi se podarilo zarezervovat chatu Peter Grubb pro tento vikend, a my jsme byli take pozvani. Cesta k chate je jen asi 3 km dlouha. Pocasi bylo pekne, a tak i kdyz jsme vyrazili za skoro v 11, byli jsme v chate na obed. Po obede sli nekteri na prochazku, nekdteri odpocivali. Rano pocasi nevypadalo uplne nejlepe a tak misto planovane kratke prochazky jsme se jen zabalili a sli zpet. Nez jsme vyrazili slunicko se prodralo zkrz mraky a my jsme meli hezkou cestu zpet.

Yosemite Bug - Yosemite Falls 14.-15. 3. 2015

Josh was organizing again a group trip to Yosemite Bug and day hike in Yosemite. Originally it was supposed to be snowshoeing trip to Dewey point, but due to lack of snow he had to change the destination. Instead we hiked up to the top of Yosemite falls, which is beautiful, but relatively challenging hike. In the evening we had fun chatting with the group. On Sunday we drove straight home, since Eric had to do some work.

Josh znovu organizoval jeho skupinovy vylet do hostelu Yosemite Bug a denni vyslap v Yosemitech. Puvodne to mel byt vyslap na sneznicich k Dewey point, ale protoze nebylo dost snehu, tak musel zmenit cil cesty. Misto toho jsme vysli k hornim Yosemitskym vodopadum. Tento vyslap je s nadhernymi vyhledy, ale docela narocny. Vecer jsme si povidali se skupinou. V nedeli jsme pak jeli primo domu, jelikoz Eric musel pracovat.
