Yosemite NP 29. - 30. 4. 2017

This winter was heavy on snow, so we expected the waterfalls in Yosemite to be quite big. We drove up on Friday evening and on Saturday we hiked up to the Nevada falls and on the way back to the Vernal falls. The waterfalls were really running, so we got a little bit wet on our way. We carried Adam in the carrier, but he also did some walking on his own.
On Sunday we went to look at the Yosemite falls, but only from the lower part. Reconstructions are going on in Yosemite valley, so we had a problem to find a parking lot and in the end we left for the hike later than we wanted. That also meant that we left for home after lunch. Luckily the drive home was relatively fast, but we were surprised how many cars were still entering Yosemite as we were leaving around 2 pm.

Tato zima byla hojna na snih a tak jsme predpokladali, ze bude hodne vody v Yosemitskych vodopadech. Jeli jsme v patek vecer a v sobotu jsme vysli k Nevadskym vodopadum a po ceste zpet pak k vodopadum Vernal. Vodopady meli skutecne hodne vody a tak jsme trochu promokli na nasi ceste. Adamka jsme nesli v nosici, ale castecne sel i po svych.
V nedeli jsme se sli podivat na Yosemitske vodopady, ale jen ze dolni casti. V Yosemitech probihaji opravy a tak jsme meli problem najit parkovani. Nakonec jsme vyrazili na vyslap pozdeji nez jsme chteli. To take znamenalo, ze jsme domu jeli za po obede. Nastesti cesta zpet byla relativne rychla, ale byli jsme prekvapeni, kolik au jelo jeste do Yosemite ve 14 h, kdyz jsme odjizdeli.

Dewey point - Yosemite NP 18. 3. 2017

It has become a tradition to go to Dewey point in Yosemite in the winter. This trip is organized by our friend Josh and it is always fun. We stay at Yosemite Bug hostel, which is about an hour from the trailhead, but it is great for big group. This year we had 5 children in the group. The weather wasn't looking great as the trip was approaching, but in the end it was quite nice.

Uz se to stalo tradici, ze chodime v zime na Dewey point v Yosemitech. Tento vylet je organizovan nasim kamaradem Joshem a je to vzdy zabava. Prespavame v hostelu Yosemite Bug, ktery je asi hodinu od zacatku trasy, ale je to dobre ubytovani pro velkou skupinu. Tento rok bylo ve skupine 5 deti. Pocasi zpocatku nevypadalo uplne nejlepe, ale nakonec bylo docela pekne.

Kings Canyon NP 3 - 4. 3. 2017

For a little change we went to Kings Canyon NP this weekend. The weather was very nice on Saturday and we did 5 mile hike to Panorama point, where we had our lunch and enjoyed the views. In the afternoon we watched a short movie at the visitor center about Kings canyon and then we decided to drive home. Even though the sky was completely blue, there was a snowstorm coming in the evening and we wouldn't be able to do anything on Sunday and the drive home would be dangerous.

Abychom udelali malou zmenu, vyrazili jsme do narodniho parku Kings Canyon. Pocasi bylo v sobotu moc pekne a tak jsme vyrazili na 8 km vyslap na Panorama point, kde jsme poobedvali a uzili si vyhled. Odpoledne jsme se pak podivali na kratky film o Kings Canyonu v navstevnickem centru a pote jsme jeli domu. I kdyz obloha byla uplne modra, mela vecer prijit snehova boure a stejne bychom v nedeli nikam nemohli a cesta domu by byla nebezpecna.

Tahoe Donner - Cross country skiing 24.-26. 2. 2017

This year has great snow conditions, so it would be shame not to take advantage of it. Cross country skiing area at Tahoe Donner rents chariots for pulling kids, so we decided to go there. This trip should have happened two weeks ago, but because Adam was sick, we had to cancel it. We left Friday early morning, arrived to Tahoe around 11 and after lunch we went skiing. We got back exactly at 5 pm, which was closing hour. The cabin, where se were staying was just 5 minutes from the resort, which was perfect.
On Saturday the weather didn't look too good early in the morning, but luckily it changed and we spend most of the day cross country skiing again. On Sunday we planned to go tubing for little bit before heading home early to avoid traffic after President's week. The tubing was $25 per adult, too much for just one hour of fun, so we decided to go home.

Tento rok jsou uzasne snehove podminky, a tak by bylo skoda toho nevyuzit. Areal na bezky v Tahoe Donner pujcuje vozicky pro deti a tak jsme se rozhodli jet tam. Na tento vylet jsme meli jet asi pred 14 dny, ale protoze Adam byl nemocny, tak jsme to museli zrusit. Vyrazili jsme v patek brzo rano, na Tahoe jsme dojeli kolem 11 a po obede jsme se vydali lyzovat. Vratili jsme se presne v 17h, coz byla zaviraci doba. Chata, kde jsme prespavali, byla jen 5 minut od arealu, coz bylo super.
V sobotu brzo rano pocasi nevypadalo moc dobre, ale nastesti se to zmenilo a my jsme stravili opet vetsinu dne na bezkach. V nedeli jsem chteli sankovat chvili nez bychom vyrazili zpet domu, aby jsme se vyhnuli zacpam po tydnu volna. Vstup do arealu byl ale za $25 za dospeleho, coz se nam zdalo hodne za hodinku sankovani a tak jsem jeli hned domu.

Lake Tahoe cabin - MLK weekend 13. - 16. 1. 2017

Another our tradition is to go with friends to Lake Tahoe area for MLK weekend. Usually we try to go to the north area, but we got so many friends interested this year, and the only big cabin available was in the south area. We had 17 adults and 10 kids! The weather was perfect! The week before our trip was snowing almost every day, but for our weekend we had mostly sunny weather. We managed to do one day of cross country skiing and two days of snowshoeing.

Dalsi nasi tradici je vylet na chatu s kamarady k jezeru Tahoe na prodlouzeny vikend MLK. Vetsinou jezdime do severni oblasti, ale protoze mnoho nasich kamaradu se chtelo pridat, tak jedina velka chata, kterou jsme nasli byla v jizni oblasti. Jelo s nami 17 dospelych a 10 deti! Pocasi bylo taky perfektni! Tyden pred nasim vyletem temer kazdy den snezilo, ale na nas vikend bylo temer slunecne pocasi. Jeden den jsme vyrazili na bezky a dva na sneznice.

Olympic NP - Seattle - 28. 12. 2016 - 4. 1. 2017

Olympic NP and Seattle was our destination for our travel around New Year this year. We flew to Seattle and drove to Olympic NP first. The weather wasn't great, but even with a lot of rain we managed to do a few hikes. The park is big, and has three different areas - coast, rain forrest and mountains. Unfortunately we weren't able to get to the mountains. I am sure we will visit the park sometimes in the summer also.

After Olympic NP we went to Seattle and spend a few nights there. We rented an apartment in the center and walked to the Pike peak Market, Waterfront, Space Needle and Pacific Science museum. We also managed to meet for dinner with one of our friends from California who now lives in Seattle.
Behem naseho cestovani po vanocich jsme navstivili Narodni park Olympic a Seattle. Prileteli jsme do Seattlu a jeli jsme nedrive do narodniho parku. Pocasi nebylo idealni, ale i pres hodne deste se nam podarilo udelat nekolik vyslapu. Park je velky a ma tri hlavni oblasti - pobrezi, destny les a hory. Bohuzel do hor se nam nepodarilo dostat. Jsem si jista, ze se sem vypravime i nekdy v lete.
Po narodnim parku Olympic jsme jeli do Seattlu a stravili jsme zde nekolik noci. Pronajali jsme si byt v centru a prosli se k trhu Pike Peak, k vode, Space Needle a muzea vedy. Take jsme sli na veceri s kamaradem z Kalifornie, ktery ted zije v Seattlu.

Colorado - Christmas 23. - 28. 12. 2016

I has become a tradition to go for Christmas to Colorado. This year wasn't any different. We spent the Christmas with Eric's side of the family. Last day we took a trip to Georgetown to ride a old train. We hoped to see also two of our friends who lives in Colorado, but unfortunately that didn't happen.

Uz se to stalo tradici, ze na vanoce jezdime do Colorada. Tento rok nebyl jiny. Stravili jsme vanoce s rodinou z Ericovi strany. Posledni den jsme se vydali do Georgetown a projeli se starym vlackem. Doufali jsme take, ze se uvidime se dvemi kamaradkami, ktere ziji v Coloradu, ale to se nakonec neuskutecnilo.
