Boundary Waters 30. 8. - 7. 9. 2014

Trip to Boundary Waters in Minnesota was little bit different trip than we usually do. Minnesota is called state of 10000 lakes and we had a chance to explore very small part of them. We spent about 6 days in canoes on water close to Canadian border. It wasn't backpacking trip by any means, we did  a lot of paddling, but also carrying our canoe and bags for parts that wasn't passable on water. Our bags were quite heavy, so note for possible next time - pack light! We had a few days with some rain, but overall the weather was great. Even mosquitoes weren't that bad, but don't ask Eric about it, they liked him the best!

Vylet do Boundary Waters v Minnesote byl trochu jiny nez nase obvykle vylety. Minnesota je nazyvana statem 10000 jezer a my jsme meli sanci prozkoumat jejich malou cast. Stravili jsme 6 dni v kanojich na vode pobliz Kanadskych hranic. Toto urcite nebyl vylet kde jsme nosili batohy na zadech, hodne jsme padlovali, ale take jsme prenaseli nase lode a batohy pres mista, ktera po vode nesla prevezt. Nase batohy byly pomerne tezke, tak poznamka pro priste - balit na lehko! Meli jsme par dni, kdy nam prselo, ale jinak pocasi vyslo pekne. I komari tak nestipali, i kdyz neptejte se Erica na to, komari jej meli nejradsi!

Lilian Lake - Ansel Adams Wilderness 17.-18. 8. 2014

One of my backpacking books has the trip to Lilian Lake in Ansel Adams Wilderness on the first page. We had 8 people in our group - Kenna, Alan, Josh, Anh, Kristina, Libor, Eric and I. To get to trailhead we had to drive for a while on dirt road, luckily everybody had a suitable car for this. We started relatively late and it was quite hot. A few people didn't feel that great, so we decided to stay by Staniford lakes instead of going all the way to Lilian Lake. I tried to fish for a dinner, but not only that I didn't catch anything, I even didn't see a single small fish in the lake. A few of us went to Lilian lake next morning before heading back home.

V jedne moji knizce s vylety do hor, je vyslap k jezeru Lilian v oblasti Ansel Adams na prvni strane. V nasi skupine bylo 8 lidi - Kenna, Alan, Josh, Anh, Kristina, Libor, Eric a ja. Na zacatek cesty jsme museli je pomerne dlouho po prasne ceste, nastesti vsichni meli na toto dobre aout. Vyrazili jsme pomerne pozde a bylo docela horko. Nekolika lidem nebylo zrovna nejlepe a tak jsme se rozhodli zustat u jezer Staniford misto abychom dosli az k jezeru Lilian. Ja jsem se pokusila ulovit is veceri, ale nejen, ze jsem nic nechytla, ja jsem ani nevidela zadnou malou rybku v jezere. Nekolik z nas si zaslo k jezeru Lilian dalsi rano pred cestou zpet domu.

Paul McCartney - Candlestick park 14. 8. 2014

Since about 2nd grade I am big Beatles fan. I visited places connected to Beatles in London and Liverpool, but I never even dreamed that I would be able to see any Beatle live! So when it was announced that Paul McCartney will be closing Candlestick park, I made sure that I will be there! I wasn't born yet, when the Beatles had their last concert exactly here in 1966, but 48 years later I didn't miss it! I was amazed how 72 years old Paul McCartney entertained us by playing about 40 songs on guitars, pianos and ukulele. Amazing concert!

Od asi druhe tridy jsem velkou faninkou Beatles. Navstivila jsem mista spojena s Beatles v Londyne a v Liverpoolu, ale nikdy bych ani nesnila, ze uvidim nejakeho Brouka nazivo! Tak kdyz bylo oznameno, ze Paul McCartney bude uzavirat stadion Candlestick, udelala jsem vse pro to, abych tam take byla! Jeste jsem nebyla ani na svete, kdyz Beatles meli svuj posledni koncert prave tady v roce 1966, ale 48 let pote jsem si to nemohla nechat utect! Byla jsem uplne v udivu, jak nas 72 lety Paul McCartney bavil hranim asi 40 pisni na kytary, klaviry a ukulele. Uzasny koncert!

Arroyo Seco 10. 8. 2014

Trip to Arroyo Seco gorge is good for hot days, because one spend a lot of time in the water. Eric never been there, so we choose one Sunday for a trip to this beautiful gorge. I went a few times before, but I never done the loop hike that I heard can be done. We hiked about 3 miles on dirt road and then took a small trail to the creek. From here we went through water back to the area where we started. This year California deals with extreme droughts and some parts of the hike were almost dry, but there were still are where we had to swim.

Vylet k soutesce Arroyo Seco je dobry pro horke dny, jelikoz clovek stravi hodne casu ve vode. Eric tam jeste nikdy nebyl a tak jsme tam jednu nedeli vyrazili. Ja jsem tam uz parkrat byal, ale zatim jsem jeste nikdy nesla okruh o kterem jsem slysela. Nejdrive jsme sli asi 5 km po prasne ceste a pak jsem sesli malou cestou k potoku. Odtud jsme sli vodou zpet do oblasti, kde jsme zacali. Tento rok se Kalifornie potyka s velkymi suchy a tak nejake casti cesty byly temer suche, ale byly i mista, kde jsme museli plavat.

Twin lakes - Calron Falls - 2. - 3. 8. 2014

This weekend Josh planned backpacking trip to Hoover wilderness. We arrived on Saturday morning to find out that smoke from Yosemite fire is over the mountains where we were heading to. Since the conditions were quite bad, we decided not to go. Instead of that we went fishing on Twin lakes and stopped at hot springs. In the evening we drove through Yosemite and stayed on the other side of the park. In the morning we went for a short hike to Carlon falls and then drove back home.

Tento vikend Josh planoval vylet do hor do oblasti Hoover. Dorazili jsme v sobotu rano a zjistili jsme, ze kour z Yosemitskeho parku je nad horami kam jsme meli jit. Jelikoz podminky nevypadaly dobre, rozhodli jsme se nejit. Misto toho jsme si zarybarili a zastavili se u horkych pramenu. Vecer jsme projeli Yosemitami a kempovali jsme na druhe strane parku. Rano jsme sli na kratky vyslap k vodopadum Carlon a pak jsme jeli domu.

Lassen NP - Lake Shasta are 22. - 26. 7. 2014

To enjoy fully my summer holiday, Christina and I went camping to Lassen National park and Lake Shasta are. I visited Lassen twice before, but once I just drove through and second time it was for snowcamping. This time we had about 2 and half days for exploring. One day in the morning we hiked up to Brokeoff mountain and had nice view on Lassen peak and Shasta. In the afternoon we went to geothermal area in the park. The second day we hiked up on cinder cone.
For the second part of our trip we moved to Redding area. After we dealt with flat tire, we took a tour through Shasta dam and Shasta caverns. Since it was very hot, we ended up at Whiskytown lake. Before we headed home we stopped at Sundial bridge in Redding and walked through a botanic garden.

Abychom vyuzily plne nasich letnich prazdnin, Christina a ja jsem vyjely kempovat do narodniho parku Lassen a do oblasti jezera Shasta. Ja uz jsem byla v Lassen dvakrat predtim, ale poprve jsem jen parkem projela a podruhe to bylo na stanovani ve snehu. Tentokrat jsme meli 2 a pul dne na prozkoumavani. Jeden den jsme rano vyslapaly na horu Brokeoff, ze ktere byl pekny vyhled na horu Lassen a Shastu. Odpoledne jsme si zasli k geotermalni oblasti v parku. Druhy den jsme vysly na popelovy kuzel.
Na druhou cast vyletu jsme se presunuli do oblasti Reddingu. Pote co jsme se vyporadaly s pichnutym kolem, sly jsme na prohlidku prehrady Shasta a do jestkyn Shasta. Jelikoz bylo velke horko, skoncily jsme u jezera Whiskytown.
Nez jsme odjeli domu, zastavily jsme se u mostu ve tvaru slunecnich hodin v Reddingu a prosly jsme se botanickou zahradou.

Australia 20. 6. - 13. 7. 2017

This year we chose Australia for our big holiday. It has been 8.5 years since I left Sydney, and Eric hasn't been at all. The first week we spent in Sydney. Eric was working during the day and I was visiting familiar places and meeting friends. Eric had some time for Sydney too. As soon as we arrived, my friends Denisa and Rob took us around the main part of the city, then next weekend we spent exploring Manly (part Sydney), and after we got back from our travels, we had about one and half days to see some more.

Tento rok jsme si vybrali Australii za cil nasi velke dovolene. Uz to bylo 8.5 roku od doby, kdy jsem odletela ze Sydney a Eric v Australii jeste vubec nebyl. Prvi tyden jsme stravili v Sydney. Eric pracoval behem dne a ja jsem navstevovala znama mista a potkavala se s kamarady. Eric mel take cas na Sydney. Jen co jsme prileteli, moji kamaradi Denisa a Rob nas vzali kolem hlavnich casti mesta, nasledujici vikend jsme si zajeli na Manly (cast Sydney), a pote co jsme se vratili z cestovani jsme jeste meli den a pul na dalsi prohlidku.

The first week of Eric's vacation we flew to Northern Territory. We rented a campervan and visited three national parks - Nitmiluk, Kakadu and Litchfield. Each of the national park was quite different, even though they are relatively close. In Nitmiluk we kayaked through amazing gorges, Kakadu was amazing for its nature, and we had fun swimming in Litchfield.

Prvni tyden Ericovi dovolene jsme leteli do Severniho Teritoria. Pronajali jsme si kempovaci auto a navstivili tri narodni parky - Nitmiluk, Kakadu a Litchfield. Kazdy z narodnich parku byl jiny, i kdyz jsou od sebe pomerne blizko. V Nitmiluk jsme projeli kajakem uzasne soutezky, Kakadu melo uzasnou prirodu a v Litchfieldu jsme si dobre zaplavali.

The last week of our holiday we flew to Queensland. We did two trips from Cairns. First we went to Great Barrier reef for some snorkeling and scuba diving. Then we took a tour to  Daintree Rainforest, with stops at Cape Tribulation and Mossman gorge. To get to our next stop Whitsunday islands, we took overnight bus from Cairns. Immediately we arrived, we jumped on sailing boat for two days. In that time we did some more snorkeling, diving, whale and dolphin watching, plus we visited a beautiful Whitehaven beach.

Posledni tyden nasi dovolene jsme leteli do Queenslandu. Z Cairns jsme podnikli dva vylety. Nejdrive jsme jeli snorklovat a potapet se na Velky Barierovy utes. Pote jsme jeli se zajezdem do destneho pralesa Daintree, se zastavkama u mysu Tribulation a soutesky Mossman. Do naseho dalsi zastavky ostrovu Whitsunday, jsme jeli nocnim autobusem z Cairns. Hned jak jsme prijeli jsme naskocili na plachetnici na dva dny. Po tuto dobu jsme snorchlovali, potapeli se, videli delfiny a velryby a navic jsme navstivili plaz Whiteheaven.
