Culbertson Lake 31.7 - 1.8. 2020

Originally we were supposed to go camping with friends this weekend. Because of Covid 19 our campsite reservation was canceled and we decided to go backpacking. I went backpacking with Petra and Miro many times before, but this weekend it was for the first time they went since they started a family. We went to Tahoe NF again, this time to Lindsay lake trailhead. From here we hiked about 2 miles to Culbertson lake where we found nice campsite. We stayed two nights and we didn't see many people. The kids had a lot of fun, playing around, swinging in hammock and playing in the lake.

Puvodne jsme tento vikend meli jet kempovat s kamarady. Kvuli Covid 19 nam ale zrusili rezervaci na kemp a my jsme se rozhodli jet misto toho do hor. S Petrou a Mirem jsem byla na vyslapech v horach mnohokrat, ale tento vikend to bylo poprve od doby kdy maji deti. Jeli jsme opet do Tahoe NF, tentokrat k jezeru Lindsay. Odtud jsme sli asi 3 km k jezeru Culbertson, kde jsme nasli pekne misto na stanovani. Tady jsme zustali dve noci a ani jsme nevideli mnoho lidi. Deti si to moc uzivali, hrali si v okoli, houpali na houpacce a cakali v jezere.

Tahoe NF - Island Lake Backpacking 29.6. - 1.7. 2020

We were planning on going backpacking for long weekend of 4th of July. Even though we are trying to keep distance from other people, it is more fun and safer when we go with friends. Nobody could join us for the long weekend so we changed our plans and went in the beginning of the week with Miles and his two sons. We were glad we could do it! The area is quite popular and even during the week we were meeting a lot of people. We hiked only little bit over one mile to our campsite. The second day (Tuesday) we went for short hike and splash in the lake. On Wednesday we hiked out and we even stopped for a meal in the Czech restaurant.

Planovali jsme vylet do hor na prodlouzeny vikend kolem dne nezavislosti. I kdyz se snazime se nestykat s ostatnima lidma, tak vylet do hor si uzijeme vice s kamarady a je to taky trochu bezpecnejsi. Nikdo s k nam na prodlouzeny vikend nemohl pripojit a tak jsme zmenili plany a vyrazili ze zacatku tydne s Milesem a jeho dvema syny. Byli jsme radi, ze jsme to tak mohli udelat! Oblast je hodne popularni a i behem tydne jsme potkavali hodne lidi. Sli jsme ani ne 2 km k mistu, kde jsme kempovali. Dalsi den (utery) jsme sli na kratky vylet a osvezili jsme se v jezere. Ve stedu jsme sli zpatky k autu a pak po ceste jsme se jeste zastavili pro jidlo v ceske restauraci.

Arroyo Seco camping 19. - 21. 6. 2020

Arroyo Seco is gorge about 2 hours from our house. Previously we came here just for a day trip, but this time we managed to get a campground reservation and stayed for 2 nights. On Saturday we hiked to the gorge for nice swim in the river, on Sunday before we left we went to the day use area and refreshed ourselves in the river there.

Arroyo Seco je rokle asi 2 hodiny od naseho domu. Drive jsme sem jezdili na denni vylet, ale tentokrat se nam podarilo ziskat reservaci na kempovani a zustali jsme na 2 noci. V sobotu jsme se sli okoupat do reky pobliz rokle, v nedeli nez jsme odjeli jsme sli osvezit k rece pobliz kempu.

Twin Lakes - Kaiser Wilderness 5. - 7. 6. 2020

After about 3 months of staying at home or very close to home we left the house for adventure little bit further. On Friday morning we drove without stopping to a trailhead at Kaiser Wilderness. With our friend Liz and her son we walked about 3.2 miles to first of Twin lakes. It took as longer than we hoped, but we made it before it started to rain. Emma (2 years) still have naps, so starting around 11 was little bit late for her and she wasn't really happy to walk.
On Saturday we went for a short walk to the second lake, had a lunch there and then spent the rest of the afternoon by our campsite. On Sunday we hiked back. We didn't start as early as I hoped, but since Emma just finished her breakfast, she was full of energy and walked the whole way with just a few stops.

Po asi 3 mesicich doma a nebo pobliz domu jsme konecne vyrazili za dobrodruzstvim trochu dale. V patek rano jsme vyjeli a bez zastaveni prijeli az k ceste do Kaiser Wilderness. S nasi kamaradkou Liz a jejim synem jsme sli asi 5 km k prvnimu z jezeru Twin. Sli jsme dele nez jsme doufali, ale zvladli jsme to predtim nez zacalo prset. Emma (2 roky) stale odpoledne spi a nas zacatek cesky v 11 hodin bylo pro ni pozde a moc se ji nechtelo jit.
V sobotu jsem vysli na kratky vylet k druhemu jezeru, tam se naobedvali a zbytek odpoledne stravili v nasem kempu. V nedeli jsem sli zpet. Nezacali jsme tak brzo jak jsme doufali, ale jelikoz Emma zrovna posnidala, tak byla plna energie a usla celou cestu zpatky jen s par zastavkami.

Idaho - Silver Mountain Resort Dec 23, 2019 - Jan 2, 2020

This year we decided to go for Christmas/New year vacation to Idaho. It was long drive (about 16 h) and we covered it in two days. We went to Silver Mountain resort. We were hoping do to some downhill skiing, cross country skiing and enjoy the indoor waterpark that was in the resort. Unfortunately the snow coverage wasn't good for cross country skiing or snowshoeing, so most days we took a gondola on top of the mountain where we did a lot of downhill activities and one day of tubing. The resort was quite empty (comparing to California) and the prices were reasonable too (comparing to California), I would definitely came back!

Tento rok jsme se rozhodli vydat na vanoce a Silvestra do Idaha. Byla to dlouha cesta (asi 16 hodin) a zvladli jsme ji za dva dny. Jeli jsme do resortu Silver Mountain. Doufali jsme, ze pujdeme na sjezdovky, bezky a ze si budemem uzivat vnitrniho vodniho parku. Bohuzel snehu nebylo dostatecne na bezky ani na sneznice a tak jsme vetsinu dni jeli lanovkou na vrchol hory, kde jsme lyzovali a jeden den sankovali. Resort byl docela prazdny (v porovnani s Kalifornii) a ceny byly primerene (v porovnani s Kalifornii), urcite bych se chtela nekdy podivat zpatky.

Thanksgiving - Arnold 27.11. - 1. 12. 2019

This year we went to Arnold, near Bear valley for Thanksgiving with friends. Just before this holiday a big storm came in and we were little bit worried about the drive to the mountains, but in the end it was OK. There was a lot of snow, so we did some snowshoeing, snowman building, sledding and other snow play. Unfortunately the day we wanted to drive to Bear valley for some cross country skiing, the roads had a lot of ice on them, so we stayed at the cabin.

Tento rok jsme jeli na dikuvzdani s kamarady do mestecka Arnold, pobliz Bear valley. Tesne pred svatky prislo spatne pocasi a tak jsme se trochu bali jaka bude cesta. Nastesti nakonec vse bylo vporadku. Na horach bylo hodne snehu a tak jsme se prosli na sneznicich, staveli snehulaky, bobovali a jinak si hrali ve snehu. Bohuzel ten den, kdy jsme chteli jet do Bear valley na bezky, tak silnice byly naledovatele a tak jsme radeji zustali u chaty.

Box Lake - Little Lakes Valley backpacking 25. - 27. 9. 2019

We had to cancel about three trips to mountains because of various illnesses in our family in the end of summer. The one we were really sorry about was backpacking trip. So when we saw that the weather in the end of September is still nice, we decided to go to Sierras for backpacking trip. Our friend Liz and her son joined us. The drive to eastern side of the mountains is quite long, so we left on Tuesday evening and stayed one night in hotel. On Wednesday we finished the drive and did our hike (1.6 miles) to our camp. Adam walked the distance without a problem, Emma walked some parts. When we got to the camp Adam started to complain that he has headache. We were in little bit over 10000ft above sea level and he felt it. We tried to feed him and make him drink. He got little bit better, but then around 5 pm he practically collapsed and fell asleep. We were worried that he has serious case of altitude sickness so we decided to leave most equipment at camp (we already set up out tent) and go back to car and return tomorrow either to pick up our stuff or stay. When we put Adam to carrier, he woke up and cried that he doesn't want to leave. We gave him some food and started to walk back anyway. It was getting dark and since Adam was in the carrier, I had to carry Emma in arms and it wasn't easy. As we walked Adam still complained, but he started to sound back to normal, so we decided to go back to camp.
On Thursday we went for a short hike to another lake. It was easy hike, we spent most of the day just sitting by another lake. On Friday hiked back to the car and drove back.

Na konci leta jsme museli zrusit asi tri vylety do hor kvuli ruznym nemocem v rodine. Vylet ktery nas mrzel nejvice byl ten, kde jsme meli jit kempovat do hor. Tak kdyz jsme videli, ze pocasi na konci zari je porad pekne, rozhodli jsme se, ze pojedeme jeste do hor Sierras. Nase kamaradka Liz a jeji syn se k nam pridala. Cesta na vychodni stranu hor je docela dlouha, tak jsme vyjeli v utery vecer a prespali po ceste v hotelu. Ve stredu rano jsme dokoncili jizdu a pak jsme sli (2.5 km) do naseho kempu. Adam usel celou cestu bez problemu, Emma sla nejake useky. Kdyz jsme dosli do kempu, Adam si zacal stezovat, ze ho boli hlava. Byli jsme v nadmorske vysce neco pres 3000 m a on to pocitoval. Snazili jsme se mu dat jidlo a piti. Udelalo se se mu o neco lepe, ale kolem 17 h prakticky odpodl a usnul. Meli jsme strach, ze ma tezsi formu nadmorske nemoci a tak jsem se rozhodli nechat veci v kempu (uz jsme meli postaveny stan) a jit zpet k autu a vratili bychom se zitra bud jen pro veci a nebo zustat dalsi noc. Kdyz jsme dali Adamka do sedacky, tak se vzbudil a zacal plakat, ze nechce odejit. Dali jsme mu nejake jidlo a vyrazili jsme i tak zpet. Uz jse stmivalo a jelikoz Adamek byl v nositku, musela jsem nest Emicku v naruci a to nebylo jednoduche. Jak jsme sli, Adamek si stale stezoval, ze nechce odejit, ale zacal se projevovat normalne a tak jsem se rozhodli vratit do kempu.
Ve ctrvtek jsem sli na kratkou prochazku k dalsimu jezeru. Byl to pohodovy vyslap, vetsinu dne jsme stravili sezenim u dalsiho jezera. V patek jsme sli zpet k autu a jeli zpet.
