Boca Spring camping 1. - 4. 9. 2017

Our last camping trip for this year was at Boca Spring campground near Truckee. We had about 8 other families joining us. In the Bay area where we live were extreme heats, so we managed to escape a little. It was still hot, so on Saturday we took it quite lazy and stayed most of the day at the camp. We went only for little swim at the lake in the afternoon. On Sunday we all went for a short hike, that we ended by splashing at a creek. We also got a little rain, so that cooled off the air. On Monday we did only very short walks to the Boca spring that was at the camp and we stopped to look at the Boca dam. Because it was a long weekend and people were also driving back from Burning Man, we got stuck in the traffic and arrived home around 6 pm.

Nase posledni kempovani tento rok bylo v Boca Spring kempu pobliz Truckee. Dalsich asi 8 rodin se k nam pripojilo. V Bay Area, kde bydlime, byly extremni horka a tak jsme alespon trochu tomu unikli. Bylo i tak horko a tak jsme v Sobotu nic moc nedelali a zustali vetsinu dne v kempu. Zasli jsme se jen kratce okoupat odpoledne do jezera. V nedeli jsme vsichni vyrazili na kratky vyslap, ktery jsme zakoncili ochlazenim se v potoku. Taky nam trochu zaprselo, coz prineslo male ochlazeni. V pondeli jsme se sli jen projit k pramenu Boca, ktery byl v kempu a zastavili jsme se u prehrady Boca. Protoze byl prodlouzeny vikend a lide se take vraceli z akce "Burning Man", dostali jsme se do zacp a domu jsme dorazili az kolem 18 h.

Black Oak Camping 19. - 20. 8. 2017

On our second kid friendly camping came 17 adults and 12 children. Everybody had a great time, even though I think this was one of the most dustiest camping I have done. There weren't many good trails around, so we took it easy and spent Saturday by close by lake and campsite. We did similar thing on Sunday. Before we packed everything it was almost lunch time, so we stopped by the lake again and then drove home. We also stop for early dinner at Czech restaurant in Concord.

Na nase druhe kempovani s detmi prijelo 17 dospelych a 12 deti. Vsichni si to uzili i kdyz to bylo asi jedno s nejprasnejsich kempovani na kterem jsem byla. V okoli nebylo mnoho znacenych cest na vyslapy a tak jsme nic moc nedelali a stravili sobotu u jezera a v kempu. Podobne tomu bylo i v nedeli. Nez jsme vse zbalili, tak byl skoro obed a tak jsme se jen zastavili znovu u jezera a pak jeli domu. Po ceste jsme se jeste zatavili na brzkou veceri v ceske restauraci v Concordu.

Bear River camping 28. - 30. 7. 2017

Last year we started a new tradition - camping with families with children. This camping was first out of three that we planned for this year and it was great - great people, great place. The campground was by a reservoir, but unfortunately there weren't really any good hikes close by. So on Saturday some of us drove about 30 minutes to trailhead to one lake. On Sunday we packed, walked to a place with a view of the reservoir, then stop for lunch by the reservoir and after short swim drove back home.

Minuly rok jsme zacali novou tradici - kempovani s rodinami s detmi. Toto kempovani bylo prvni ze tri, ktere jsme naplanovali na tento rok a vydarilo se - super lidi, super misto. Kemp byl u prehrady, ale bohuzel v blizkem okoli nebyla moznost dobrych tur. Tak v sobotu nekteri z nas vyrazily na turu asi 30 minut autem. V nedeli jsme se zabalili, udalali si malou prochazku na jedno misto z vyhledem na prehradu, pak se zastavili u prehrady na obed a po kratkem zaplavani jeli zpet domu.

Mammoth Lakes and Channel Islands NP 1. - 13.7. 2017

This year we took our longer vacation locally. By locally, I mean we stayed in California :)
The first week we rented a condo at Mammoth Lakes and spent the week with Eric's dad Roger and his wife Karen. We did a few day trips and hikes in the area. After that we drove down to south California and spent 4 days camping at Channel Islands NP. We stayed at Santa Cruz island, the biggest island. At this island the water was available and the walk from the harbor was quite short, but otherwise it was similar to backpacking. We hiked every day, and took a kayak tour one day. I went in the morning and Eric in the afternoon.

Tento rok jsme si vybrali nasi dlouhou dovolenou mistne. Mistne, tim myslim, ze jsme zustali v Kalifornii :)
Prvni tyden jsme si pronajali dum v Mammoth Lakes a stravili jej s Ericovym tatinkem Rogerem a a jeho zenou Karen. Vyrazili jsme na nekolik vyletu a vyslapu v teto oblasti. Pak jsme jeli do jizni Kalifornie a stravili jsme 4 dny kempovanim v narodnim parku Channel Islands. Byli jsme na ostrove Santa Cruz, ktery je z ostrovu nejvetsi. Na tomto ostrove byla dostupna pitna voda a cesta od pristavu byla pomerne kratka, ale jinak to bylo podobne backpackovani. Vyrazeli jsme na vyslapy kazdy den a jeden den jsme jeli na kajacich. Ja rano a Eric odpoledne.

Yosemite NP 29. - 30. 4. 2017

This winter was heavy on snow, so we expected the waterfalls in Yosemite to be quite big. We drove up on Friday evening and on Saturday we hiked up to the Nevada falls and on the way back to the Vernal falls. The waterfalls were really running, so we got a little bit wet on our way. We carried Adam in the carrier, but he also did some walking on his own.
On Sunday we went to look at the Yosemite falls, but only from the lower part. Reconstructions are going on in Yosemite valley, so we had a problem to find a parking lot and in the end we left for the hike later than we wanted. That also meant that we left for home after lunch. Luckily the drive home was relatively fast, but we were surprised how many cars were still entering Yosemite as we were leaving around 2 pm.

Tato zima byla hojna na snih a tak jsme predpokladali, ze bude hodne vody v Yosemitskych vodopadech. Jeli jsme v patek vecer a v sobotu jsme vysli k Nevadskym vodopadum a po ceste zpet pak k vodopadum Vernal. Vodopady meli skutecne hodne vody a tak jsme trochu promokli na nasi ceste. Adamka jsme nesli v nosici, ale castecne sel i po svych.
V nedeli jsme se sli podivat na Yosemitske vodopady, ale jen ze dolni casti. V Yosemitech probihaji opravy a tak jsme meli problem najit parkovani. Nakonec jsme vyrazili na vyslap pozdeji nez jsme chteli. To take znamenalo, ze jsme domu jeli za po obede. Nastesti cesta zpet byla relativne rychla, ale byli jsme prekvapeni, kolik au jelo jeste do Yosemite ve 14 h, kdyz jsme odjizdeli.

Dewey point - Yosemite NP 18. 3. 2017

It has become a tradition to go to Dewey point in Yosemite in the winter. This trip is organized by our friend Josh and it is always fun. We stay at Yosemite Bug hostel, which is about an hour from the trailhead, but it is great for big group. This year we had 5 children in the group. The weather wasn't looking great as the trip was approaching, but in the end it was quite nice.

Uz se to stalo tradici, ze chodime v zime na Dewey point v Yosemitech. Tento vylet je organizovan nasim kamaradem Joshem a je to vzdy zabava. Prespavame v hostelu Yosemite Bug, ktery je asi hodinu od zacatku trasy, ale je to dobre ubytovani pro velkou skupinu. Tento rok bylo ve skupine 5 deti. Pocasi zpocatku nevypadalo uplne nejlepe, ale nakonec bylo docela pekne.

Kings Canyon NP 3 - 4. 3. 2017

For a little change we went to Kings Canyon NP this weekend. The weather was very nice on Saturday and we did 5 mile hike to Panorama point, where we had our lunch and enjoyed the views. In the afternoon we watched a short movie at the visitor center about Kings canyon and then we decided to drive home. Even though the sky was completely blue, there was a snowstorm coming in the evening and we wouldn't be able to do anything on Sunday and the drive home would be dangerous.

Abychom udelali malou zmenu, vyrazili jsme do narodniho parku Kings Canyon. Pocasi bylo v sobotu moc pekne a tak jsme vyrazili na 8 km vyslap na Panorama point, kde jsme poobedvali a uzili si vyhled. Odpoledne jsme se pak podivali na kratky film o Kings Canyonu v navstevnickem centru a pote jsme jeli domu. I kdyz obloha byla uplne modra, mela vecer prijit snehova boure a stejne bychom v nedeli nikam nemohli a cesta domu by byla nebezpecna.
