What supposed to be 3 day backpacking trip with friends to Upper Kinney lake became 2 day backpacking trip alone to Heiser lake.
Friends' daughter got sick, so they couldn't join us, but we were ready to go. When we arrived to our trailhead on Saturday morning we saw and smelled a lot of smoke, so we decided not to go to our original destination. We drove back and on our way we passed trailhead to Heiser lake where we went 3 years ago. We had our lunch there and evaluated our situation based on visible smoke and information from passing hikers. In the end we decided to go. In the evening we were joined at the lake by a family with three kids. They had signal there and were very kind to inform us about the fire situation. There were two fires relatively near us, but in the evening there wasn't big concern that they would get close to us. The next morning situation changed and both of our families decided to leave. At the campsite we didn't see any smoke, but as soon as we walked up first ridge the fire looked very close. Luckily we weren't in danger, but I think it was the fastest 2.5 mile hike with heavy bags we did.

Dcera kamaradu onemocnela a tak se k nam nemohli pridat, ale my jsme byli pripraveni vyrazit. Kdyz jsme dojeli k nasemu puvodnimu startu, tak jsme videli a citili hodne koure. Rozhodli jsme se proto odjet. Po ceste zpet jsme jeli kolem mista odkud jsme sli k jezeru Heiser pred 3 lety. Dali jsme si obed a sledovali jsme kour a ptali jsme se lidi, co tudy prochazeli, jestli nevi vice o pozaru. Na zaklade techto informaci jsme se rozhodli vyrazit. Vecer k jezeru prisla jeste jedna rodina se tremi detmi. Ti meli signal a byli moc hodni a informovali nas o situaci s ohnem. V okoli byly dva ohne relativne blizko nas, ale vecer nebyly obavy, ze by nas ohen ohrozoval. Dalsi rano se situace trochu zmenila a vsichni jsme se rozhodli odejit. Od kempu jsme nevideli zadny kour, ale jakmile jsme vysli kousek vyse, tak jsme mei pocit, ze ohen je pomerne blizko. Nastesi jsme nebyli v nebezpeci, ale myslim, ze tak rychle jsme 4 km jeste s tezkymi batohy nesli.
