Christmas - Colorado - New Mexico 22.12. 2012 - 2.1. 2013

This year Christmas I went with Eric to Colorado to celebrate the holidays with his family near Denver. While we were in Evergreen we went for a few walks around snowy forest, tried ice skating on a lake, drove to Denver to see the decorated downtown, visited botanic garden and walk the trail of lights, ate a lot of good food and had really good time.
For the second part of our holiday we rented a car and drove to Los Alamos in New Mexico where Eric used live and work. We met there with Eric's friend from high school. We stopped at Wolf Creek for one day skiing on our way. The three days in Los Alamos we spent by visiting Santa Fe, Bandelier National Monument, science museum (Los Alamos was established to develop nuclear weapon during WWII), met with Eric's old friends and went for short hike. Unfortunately the snow conditions weren't great so we didn't use our snowshoes that we brought from Ca. On New Year's day we drove back to Colorado and then flew back to San Francisco.

Tento rok jsem jela oslavit Vanoce s Ericem a jeho rodinou do Colorada. Cas straveny v Evergreenu jsme stravili prochazkami zasnezenym lesem, bruslenim na jezere, zajeli jsme si do Denvru podivat se na vanocni vyzdobu, navstivili jsme botanickou zahradu a prosli se po ceste svetel, jedli jsme vyborna jidla a vubec jsme se meli velice dobre.
Na druhou cast nasi dovolene jsme si pujcili auto a jeli do Los Alamos v Novem Mexicu, kde Eric drive bydlel a pracoval. Tam jsme se potkali s Ericovym kamaradem ze stredni skoly. Po ceste jsme se zastavili na jeden den lyzovani na Wolf Creeku. Tri dny v Los Alamos jsme stravili navstevou Santa Fe, Bandelier National monumentu, muzea vede (Los Alamos bylo zalozeno pro vyrobeni jaderne bomby za druhe svetove valky), potkali se s Ericovymi znamymi a zasli si na kratkou vychazku. Bohuzel snehove podminky nebyly idealni a tak jsme ani nevyuzily sneznice, ktere jsme privezli z Kalifornie. Na Novy rok jsme jeli zpet do Colorada a odtud jsme leteli zpet do San Francisca.

Ice scating - Czech Christmas dinner - iFly 13.-16. 2012

Eric and I continued holiday fun by ice skating. San Jose set up ice ring in the downtown area during Christmas and it is always fun to go and skate under palm trees. On Saturday I made traditional Czech Christmas dinner (fish soup, fried carp and potato salad) for friends. Martin and Yumi brought their daughter Aiko and Daniela and Ceasar their twin boys.  On Sunday was Eric's birthday and as I present I organized indoor skydiving. Fun weekend!

 Eric a ja jsme pokracovali ve vanocnich oslavach bruslenim. San Jose sestavuje ledovou plochu v centru kolem Vanoc a je to vzdy zabava jit si zabruslit pod palmama. V sobotu jsem pak pripravila tradicni ceskou veceri (rybi polevku, smazeneho kapra a bramborovy salad) pro kamarady. Martin a Yumi prisli s dcerkou Aiko a Daniela a Ceasar se svymi kluky dvojcaty. V nedeli mel Eric narozeniny a jako darek jsem zorganizovala "indoor skydiving". Pekny vikend!

Christmas parties and Christmas preparation 1. - 8. 12. 2012

Christmas celebration started this year by Google Christmas party. It was in San Francisco, so we took Google shuttle bus up to the city. It was masquerade party with a lot of good food and different activities like dancing, gambling, etc.. On Sunday Eric and I decorated gingerbread cookies together. The next week I hosted Christmas party with Christina in our apartment. Thirteen people just fit in our living room and we had a lot of fun playing a few games, eating and drinking spiced wine.

Vanocni oslavy zacaly tento rok vecirkem Googlu. Vecirek byl v San Franciscu a tak jsme jeli do SF autobusem Googlu. Byl to maskarni bal s dobrym jidlem a ruznymi aktivitami jako tancovani, hrani rulety apod. V nedeli jsme pak s Erikem zdobyli pernicky. Dalsi tyden jsme s moji spolubydlici Christinou poradali vanocni party u nas v byte. Trinast lidi se akorat veslo do naseho obyvaku a dobre se bavilo hranim her, jezenim a pitim svaraku.

Thanksgiving 22. - 25. 11. 2012

Thanksgiving holiday means for me mainly 4 days off and good reason to take a trip. This year it was very relaxing trip down to Los Angeles on Highway 1. The weather was beautiful and Eric and I stopped by Big Sur, we took tour at Hearst Castle, visited mission in Santa Barbara, had fun in Universal Studios and played tourist at Hollywood.

Den dikuvzdani pro mne znamena 4 dny volna a dobry duvod k vyletu. Tento rok to byl velice relaxujici vylet do Los Angles po Highway 1. Pocasi bylo nadherne a Eric a ja jsme zastavili u Big Sur, prohledli jsme si Hearst Castle, navstivily misi v Santa Barbare, uzili si Universal Studios a zahrali si na turisty v Hollywoodu!

Halloween 2012

Halloween was on Wednesday this year, but of course all the parties were happening the weekend before. Eric and I went first to Planet Granite to climb in dark on Friday and then party on Saturday and Saturday, on top of that Eric ran Halloween half marathon. I wish I ran it too, but I managed to injured my foot on Saturday and it looks that running is out for a while for me :(

Tento rok propadl Halloween na stredu, ale samozrejme vsechny vecitky se dely vikend pred Halloweenem. Eric a ja jsem sli nejdrive v patke na stenu lozit ve tme a pak na vecirek v patek i sobotu, k tomu jeste si Eric zabehl halloweensky pulmarathon. Prala jsem si bezet tak, ale jelikoz jsem si zranila chodilo v sobotu, tak to vypada, ze s behanim je na cas konec :(

Napa Valley tasting 13.10. 2012

Josh, Eric and I were driving in May back from one backpacking trip when we started to talk about possibility to rent Google bus through Eric and organize wine tasting trip, we looked in our calendars and the first free common weekend was October 13, so we marked our calendars... We invited friends and colleagues and 28 of us went. We visited three wineries Reata, Black Stallion and Bourassa. Every winery was different and it was nice selection, everybody had a great time.

Josh, Eric a ja jsem jeli v kvetnu z jednoho kempovaciho vyletu, kdyz jsme zacali mluvit o moznosti pronajmuti autobusu z Googlu pres Erica a zorganizovani vyletu do vinne oblasti, zkonzultovali jsme nase kalendare a prvni spolecny volny vikend byl 23. Rijen, a tak jsme si datum poznacili. Pozvali jsme kamarady a kolegy a 28 nas vyrazilo. Navstivili jsme tri vinnarny  Reata, Black Stallion and Bourassa. Kazda vinnarna byla jina a byl to dobry vyber, kazdemu se vylet libil.

Jamaica 30.9. - 6.10. 2012

Our school year started quite early this year and some people felt that it would be nice to have a fall break to relax a little bit. Christina and I bought a stay at one hotel in Jamaica through Groupon and we decided to use it this week off. The weather over all wasn't bad, but it was raining every day for a little bit. We spent some time on beaches as well as traveling around, even though we found out that Jamaica is quite expensive place to get around.

Christina a ja jsem si koupily ubytovani pres Groupon na Jamaice a rozhodly jsem to vyuzit prave tento tyden. Pocasi nebylo uplne nejhorsi i kdyz nam alespon kratce prselo kazdy den. Cas jsme stravily na plazi i cestovanim po okoli, i kdyz jsme dosly k zaveru, ze Jamaika je docela drahe misto na projizdeni.
